Midlife
Revival Jazzband before the Natchez (Mississippi)
With this CD the Midlife Revival Jazzband presents it’s New Orleans and New Orleans Revival style. The band was founded in 1997. Their first CD ‘Up To New Orleans’ was recorded two years later. In April 2000 the band visited New Orleans (LA - USA) and performed at the annual French Quarter Festival. They gave several performances a/o at the Jazzclub Fritzels in Bourbon Street. Perhaps their most memorable performance was their show on the International Stage of Bourbon Street. Therefore it is not surprising that their second CD was titled ‘Back From New Orleans’. The Big Easy greatly inspired the band and provided them with a lot of fresh ideas for broadening their repertoire. The recordings form a compelling mix of blues, gospel, spiritual, Latin music, marches, as well as English Trad-Jazz. At the French Quarter, birth-place of New Orleans Jazz, the band greatly enjoyed the mixture of musical, cultural, and culinary experiences in the easy atmosphere of its sub-tropical climate. The shrimps, gumbo, and jambalaya leaving a nice aftertaste. One feels easily at home in the French Quarter situated near the Mississippi, with its characteristic paddle wheeler riverboats, its passionate character and the easy way of living of its inhabitants. It is fascinating to visit historical places where black slaves broke their chains and where only a century ago this musical style arose out of an expression of their joy and sorrow. A style that is greatly appreciated by the band.
