                Midlife Revival Jazzband

 The Band

The Midlife Revival Jazz Band plays music that is mainly inspired by the original New Orleans style and New Orleans Revival style.
The members of this orchestra have all gathered experience in different other jazz groups.
They were inspired by the recordings of great jazz musicians like George Lewis and Kid Ory.

The band’s repertoire goes mainly back to the twenties and is presented in their own arrangements, which also include entertaining qualities.

That is why the band plays jazz in the tradition of many English orchestras, also known as “English Trad”.

The band’s appearance and own sound has become well known and has resulted in invitations to many jazz festivals and a great number of jazz clubs in the Netherlands and abroad.
Shortly after the band was founded in 1997,  their first Cd
"Up To New Orleans"  was recorded.
In April  2000, the orchestra was invited to play at the world-famous French Quarter Festival in New Orleans (USA) at the International Stage in Bourbon Street and in the famous jazzclub Fritsels.
The experiences gathered on this tour then led to the second Cd:
"Back From New Orleans"  which includes elements of Blues, Gospels, Spirituals, Latin and march music.

This Cd was presented in the following year on 13 April 2002 at the 75e Reunion of Doctor Jazz in Wageningen (NL).

In May 2004, the orchestra was awarded the 2nd prize in the Highest Mountain Award Jazz-Contest in Vaals (NL).
At the end of 2005 the Cd "Live at Vredenburg" was brought out
The 6-men-formation, with banjo, bass and percussion in the rhythm-section and three front line musicians is a guarantee for an enthusiastic performance. The combination of New Orleans Jazz and an atmosphere that catches the audience makes every concert an unforgettable event.
